In an interview on Thursday, April 4, the NPA boss said: “We have congestion because 80 percent of our cargo goes on the road. You must have that seamless evacuation, if not, it’s laughable to think you will not have congestion.”

The federal government's move was prompted by the alarm raised by the Nigeria Cashew Exporters Association in March 2019, after experiencing an almost eight-week delay in shipping goods, so that $300 million worth of nuts were stuck in containers on trucks, Bloomberg reports.

The association said that lack of infrastructure, bureaucracy and corruption at the ports are making things bad for the business.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said it deployed 1,000 personnel to monitor traffic during the Presidential Campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, February 9, in Lagos.

Chris Olakpe, LASTMA chief executive officer, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, February 7.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
