It was gathered that the deceased's co-tenant who did not want his name in print, said the door to late Nwoko’s flat was open on the night of Monday, April 15, while he was going to sleep.
The tenant who has a shop in the building said: “Usually, I am the last person to go in. It was unusual that his door was open but I didn’t suspect anything, so I went to sleep.
“We however became suspicious in the morning when we found out that the door was still open. We decided to check on him and found his lifeless body on the floor.”
The eyewitness said that Nwoko lived alone in his flat and was not married before his death.
''He returned from the United States of America more than several years ago for the fulfillment of his prophecy.
''He claimed to be a ‘messiah’ and a 'light' sent to liberate Nigeria and Igbos in particular and believes so much in the Republic of Biafra as an alternative to a dysfunctional Nigeria.
It was learnt that in the course of his very many press conferences, Nwoko disclosed that he abandoned his family and refused to get married for over 27 years because of his calling to liberate his people.
He said he had not visited his family for all the years and had lost contact with them.
Before he was killed, he said he was being threatened through telephone calls because he was always telling the truth.
