Alvaro Morata is a major doubt for Atletico Madrid's crucial La Liga clash with Barcelona on Saturday, March 6, at the Camp Nou.

The Spain international sprained his ankle in their midweek 2-0 home win over Girona and Atletico have confirmed the injury.

Barcelona did not state how long the player will stay on the sidelines but according to Spanish media, the Chelsea loanee will be out for the next two weeks.

Reports also claim that the Los Rojiblancos have shortages in attack ahead of their crunch game at the Camp Nou which could decide who wins the La Liga title.

Diego Costa on the other hand, faces a late fitness test after missing the Girona win with a muscle problem. Thomas Lemar is also not expected to be back from injury for another two weeks.

And now the Atletico only have their top scorer Antoine Griezmann and Croatian forward Niko Kalinic for the top of the table fixture.

Diego Simeone's side trail Ernesto Valverde's men by eight points after Barca dropped points to relegation threatened side Villarreal in their midweek match.
