Arsenal legend set to return to managerial duties with former club

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is set stage a comeback n to managerial duties with MLS campaigners New York Red Bulls.

According to the Mirror, the 41-year-old Frenchman is closing in on a return to coaching in America with former club, 90 days after his stint at Ligue 1 side Monaco.

Red Bull head of global soccer Oliver Mintzlaff is set to hand Henry another platform, to re-write the wrongs after his sack from Monaco, winning just five times as the Stade Louis II dwellers were in the drop zone before his exit in January.

And Russian star Aleksandr Golovin recently slammed the Frenchman’s style after his sack.

When things weren’t working out during practice he would get nervous and yell a lot. Maybe it was unnecessary.

“He was a very strong player and the only players near his level at Monaco are maybe [Radamel] Falcao and [Cesc] Fabregas. He would try to go out onto the field and show us how to practice and yell.

“Maybe a different manager would say ‘let’s go, get it together’, but he would get nervous right away and run onto the field and start playing and showing us things.

“He would scream ‘try to get the ball away from me’. Players were mostly calm, but maybe they were in a bit of a shock.

“You could tell he didn’t fully transition into the role of manager."

Interestingly, Henry is in the good books of Red Bulls supporters during his days as a player, with reports suggesting he is under consideration to be named the club manager this week.

During hi spell at the club Henry netted 52 times in 135 games for the New York Red Bulls in four years and helped the club claim the 2013 Supporters' Shield for best regular season record.

At the moment, New York Red Bulls have just five points from their opening seven matches this campaign, leaving them on 10th spot in the Eastern Conference and may not likely make the playoffs as it stands.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Monaco sacked Thierry Henry as manager after recording strings of poor results since arriving three months ago.

The Arsenal legend has been told his services are no longer needed with former manager Leonardo Jardim lined up for a shock return.

Jardim was deemed surplus to requirement in October, making way for the ex-Gunners striker, and now the club are willing to take him back to avoid being relegated to the second division.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
