Woman falls into labour in public, gives birth to baby girl at a park (photos)

Medics from St John Ambulance on Wednesday, March 13, came to the rescue of a pregnant Nairobi woman who had given birth at Uhuru Park.

Legit.ng has learnt that 20-year-old Rebecca Atieno was taking a rest at the park but broke into labor moments later.

In a statement, St John Ambulance Kenya said its team of rescuers intervened shortly after Atieno's water broke.

After performing the emergency birth procedure, the woman and her newborn baby girl were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for further medical examination.

"Congratulations to the #StJohnAmbulance medics who successfully helped perform emergency child birth to a homeless woman at Uhuru Park earlier before rushing the mother and baby for admission at KNH. Amazing stuff! Saving Lives Everyday," St John Ambulance Kenya wrote on Facebook.

According to a report filed by the Standard on Thursday, March 14, Atieno had lost a job at a hotel where she used to work.

Her landlord in Muthurwa had kicked her out after she failed to remit a daily accommodation fee of KSh 50 (N178).

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
