War of words as Governor Wike's aide, Amaechi's loyalist group clash amid Rivers election tension

- A civil group, Young Leaders for Good Leadership, has berated Governor Nyesom Wike over his aide's attack on transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi

- The group's coordinator, Nsirimovu Worlu, chided Wike's aide for accusing Amaechi of wrong-doing in the Rivers election

- Worlu also boasted that Wike will be rejected by the Rivers people because of his failure as governor

A civil group in Rivers, Young Leaders for Good Leadership (YLGL), has hailed the minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, for facilitating growth and development to the state in terms of commendable outstanding infrastructural projects.

YLGL, in a statement signed by its president, Nsirimovu Worlu, on Friday, March 29, also faulted the allegation that the former Rivers governor wanted to forcefully impose governor on the people of state, Vanguard reports.

Worlu threw a jibe at Governor Wike, saying the people of the state would soon have their freedom from the shackles of the Wike-led state government.

Legit.ng gathers that Worlu's attack was a reaction to a statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, the special assistant to Governor Nyesom Wike on electronic media.

Nwakaudu, amid growing election tension in the state, had accused the transport minister of planing to rob the people of Rivers their mandate through violence.

He said: “That Rivers people will emerge victorious in the coming days is a function of the power of the people, their foresight and their insistence on electing their own leaders, irrespective of state violence deployed by the minister of transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who had the tacit endorsement of the powers that be.''

But speaking on the allegation, Worlu said: ''Firstly, Mr Simeon has admitted the fact that Rivers people will emerge victorious in the coming days and their insistence on electing their own leaders against Insecurity in the state, lack of employment generation for the people in four years.

''No free education nor policy to drive the sector, no scholarship for Rivers students rather many sent abroad to study by the Amaechi government where returned, secret budget, dying ealth system and so on orchestrated by the current government of PDP in Rivers State.

“Rivers people will rather be grateful to Rotimi Amaechi or whosoever that will or has taken it as a burden to liberate the people through support for a better governor which definitely will emerge through electoral process and people’s votes.

“Rivers people rejected the Wike’s government which you are part of to embrace Engr. Biokpmabo Awara, the AAC Guber Candidate whom you claim never campaigned and is unknown to the state.''

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,
