Tension as police CP parades criminals, issues fresh warning ahead of Plateau supplementary election

The commissioner of police in Plateau, Isaac Akinmoyede, has warned trouble makers that the police is well prepared for the conduct of the supplementary election in the state scheduled for March 23.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akinmoyede gave the warning while briefing newsmen in Jos on Wednesday, March 21.
Legit.ng gathers that the commissioner also paraded 16 suspected criminals who were recently arrested in the state.

He said: “We have heard reports about people who intend to cause trouble during the supplementary election. We call on them to desist from it; if they are caught, they will be dealt with.
“We will not spare any trouble maker. We are fully prepared to handle any one who wants to cause trouble.”
He further said that there would be restriction of movement in view of the security arrangements for the supplementary election.
Akinmoyede reiterated the commitment of the police toward a more peaceful conduct of the election.
In a related development, the commissioner, while parading the suspects, said the command had successfully received and investigated cases of culpable homicides, armed robbery and others.
He said that the arrested suspects were currently in detention at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department and would soon be charged to court.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said it had taken into custody two of its officers who allegedly killed an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nyanya, Abuja.
Late Ogar Jombo, an assistant superintendent of the NSCDC, was allegedly killed on Wednesday, March 20, in the presence of his wife and children, when he was stopped by the policemen for alleged violation of traffic rules.
