Steve Hanke’s report validates our position about Nigeria under Buhari - PDP

- The recent global survey that Nigeria ranks the sixth most miserable country in the world has become a recipe for discussion for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

- The report, published by an economist from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, United state, Steve Hanke, has been used by the PDP to back up its claim about the current administration

- According to the PDP, Steve Hanke's report shows that Nigeria is sinking economically under the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led regime

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the report by an economist from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, United state, Steve Hanke, which reveals that Nigeria is the 6th most miserable nation in the world.

In a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said that the global survey vindicates its position that the nation's economy is in shambles under the current administration, Vanguard reports.

Ologbondiyan said: “That report is a vindication of the position of the Peoples Democratic Party, all this while. The economy has virtually collapsed under President Buhari and the man is even mooting the idea of piling more pressure on Nigerians.

“Nigerians have never suffered like they are suffering today because those charged with the responsibility of managing the economy have failed completely. They have no idea of what it takes to manage an economy like ours.

“As an opposition party, we call on the Presidency to take urgent steps to fine-tune the economy, create jobs for our teeming youths if only to justify that a government is in place.

“In the interim, we advise them to stop their plan to increase VAT as that will only fetch millions of Nigerians additional pain and discomfort..”

The PDP's spokesman alleged that instead of salvaging Nigerians from poverty “the APC-led administration of President Buhari appears to be deriving pleasure from inflicting pains and misery.”

“Nigerians can now see that indeed, the PDP don’t just do criticisms for the fun of it. We are talking of a report that searchlighted economies of countries in different continents of the world.

"Our beloved country is in shambles but there is no doubt we will reclaim it for the people at the appointed time."

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Hanke's report shows Nigeria ranks the sixth among miserable countries in the world. Hanke's survey reveals that Venezuela tops the list of miserable countries in the world.

He said: “Venezuela holds the inglorious title of the most miserable country in the world in 2018, as it did in 2017, 2016, and 2015.”

Galadima, an ardent critic of President Muhammadu Buhari, claimed that he did not borrow money or have unpaid debt with Unity Bank, which lodged a complaint against him and occasioned AMCON’s move on Tuesday. The properties taken over include House No. 15, Addis Ababa Crescent, Wuse Zone 4, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and House No. 4, Bangui Street, Wuse 2, also in Abuja.  Reacting to the situation, Galadima said, “This is an attempt to disgrace and break me down.
