Senator Shehu Sani reacts as Buhari’s supporter reportedly dies after dangerous celebration

Senator Shehu Sani has described extreme celebrations by supporters of politicians across the country as abominable and condemnable.

The senator representing Kaduna central senatorial district in the National Assembly, made the statement on Tuesday, March 5, shortly after reports emerged that a supporter of President Buhari died from complications caused by drinking drainage water when celebrating the president's victory.

Sani in a tweet noted that drinking poison or dangerous driving to celebrate political victory Its not the way the families of the political elites celebrate.

The lawmaker also prayed for the soul of the deceased supporter to rest in peace

“Drinking poison or dangerous driving to celebrate political victory is an abominable and condemnable act. Its not the way the families of the political elites celebrate. However, may the soul of the deceased Rest In Peace,” he tweeted.

Legit.ng had reports that the death of Bala Haruna, a Bauchi-based staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari went viral on Tuesday, March 5.

Haruna had vowed to spend 10 minutes inside a gutter and drink the drainage water if President Buhari wins the presidential election.

Immediately Buhari was declared winner of the February 23 presidential election in the early on Wednesday, February 27, Haruna made good his promise as he swam in a gutter and drink dirty water from it. He was reported to have died of gastrointestinal bleeding days after his action
