Polls: 8 injured, hospitalized as APC, PDP supporters clash in A/Ibom (photos)

- Eight persons have been injured in a deadly clash between APC and PDP supporters in Nsit Atai local council area, Akwa Ibom state

- The injured persons are reportedly APC supporters and have been taken to a hospital

- An APC chieftain in the area accused the House member of Nsit Atai, Mark Essiet, of instigating the violence

A clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) has left eight persons injured in Akwa Ibom state.

The clash occurred at Ward 9, Unit 007, Nsit Atai local council area of the state, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the injured persons were APC supporters who were attacked with machetes during the fracas. They have been taken to the Itu Mbang General Hospital.

Speaking with newsmen at his residence, an APC chieftain in the area, Dr Edem, claimed that APC supporters had been stopped from going to the polling units and casting their votes by PDP-armed thugs, in connivance with security personnel.

He said one of the victims who was hospitalized may not survive the attack, and accused the House member of Nsit Atai, Mark Essiet, of instigating the violence in the area.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that armed touts were allegedly forcing some voters in Ogbomosho South local government area of Oyo state to vote for APC candidates.

The election malpractice allegedly took place in Ward 4, Polling Unit 5, Polling Unit 6 and Polling Unit 7, Ogbomosho South, where voters were forced by the touts, to show their ballot papers after voting.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
