PDP are holding Delta to ransom - ACPN tells electorates

- The governorship candidate of the ACPN has asked people of Delta state to reject the PDP and its candidates in the coming elections

- Chief Paul A Isamade asked the people of the state to vote for him and the all ACPN candidates in the state

- According to Isamade, it is shame that despite the state's resources in the last 20 years, Delta is still poor

The national leadership of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and its governorship candidate in Delta state, Chief Paul A Isamade, have asked the people of the state to reject the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ifeanyi Okowa and others described as cabals holding the state to ransom.

The ACPN, however, urged the people of Delta to come out en mass to elect its governorship candidate in Saturday's election.

The ACPN governorship candidate, who addressed his supporters in Asaba on Wednesday, March 6, said it is a shame that despite huge oil revenue accrued to Delta state in the last 20 years, Delta still lacked all all the necessary infrastructures.

He said this in a statement made available to Legit.ng after addressing his supporters in Asaba, saying he was persuading "all right thinking and lover of our dear state Delta, to reject the people that want to perpetually put us in this mess."

He said: "It is my pleasure to address you today because our Delta state is not working after 20 year of democracy. If you look around us, our neighbours who do not recieve up to 50% of our revenue have better infrastructures, better road network, better schools and so on.

"It is a shame that despite our huge oil revenue of 20 years running we still lack all of these.

"I urge you all to vote en mass for the ACPN, so that collectively we will reclaim Delta state for the benefit of all and not for any group or the unprogressives cabals. Come today 9th of March bote for your destiny, vote ACPN for governor."

Isamade, in a statement on Sunday, March 3, had denied endorsing the re-election bid of Governor Okowa as it was reported in some quarters.

According to him, he remains committed to winning the election, urging the general public to disregard insinuation in some quarters that he has endorsed the re-election bid of the incumbent governor.

The statement also urged the public to disregard any publication that includes the name of the party in respect of purported endorsement.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that ahead of the Saturday, March 9, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, March 4, vowed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) completely take over Delta state.

President Buhari said that this will be by the achievements of the party in the state during the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
