Our plan for supplementary election - APC

- The APC said it was looking forward the supplementary election in Plateau state

- The party expressed confidence that it will win the election

- The state election was declared inconclusive by INEC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateaus state has vowed to take the state governorship supplementary election seriously.

The APC candidate is reportedly leading with 44,929 votes margin but the election was declared inconclusive because of the high number of cancelled votes.

Daily Trust reports that Barrister Festus Fuanter who is the deputy director, media and publicity committee of the APC campaign organization said the party towards the coming supplementary election.

He said, “the victory of APC so far is not a surprise to us because Governor Simon Lalong has in the past four years performed to the admiration of many. Apart from regular and prompt payment of salaries, he is the first governor in the history of Plateau State to give abandoned projects from his predecessors a priority and completed them within four years.”

Fuander said the party accepted INEC’s decision in the “interest of transparency of the process and the need to give the final decision the legitimacy it require”.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is committed to conducting free, fair and credible governorship supplementary poll on March 23 in Kano state.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commission in the state, Prof. Riskuwa Arab-Shehu, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, March 13, in Kano.

Arab-Shehu said the supplementary election would determine the winner of state governorship election, which was declared inconclusive on Monday. He further explained that, results were cancelled in some polling units due to violence and over voting.
