Ortom promises more dividends of democracy in 2nd term

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue has promised to attract more development and other dividends of democracy to the state during his second term in office.

Ortom made the promise on Sunday, March 24, in Makurdi while interacting with journalists over his re-election.

He gave the assurance of running an all-inclusive administration and called on those who contested with him to join in moving the state forward.

Ortom, who described his victory as “belonging to all”, said his doors were opened to all.

According to him, those who contested with me will be given the opportunity to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

He said the people would benefit more in his second term.

The governor pledged to correct all mistakes made during his first term for the overall good of the state.

He said he dedicated his victory to God and the Benue people.

He promised to set up a reconciliation committee that would reconcile all the aggrieved people, adding that it would provide a platform for people to truly forgive one another.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting credible polls.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Ortom of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has won the keenly contested Benue governorship election held on Saturday, March 23.

Ortom polled 434,473 votes to defeat his closest rival, Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 345,155 votes.

Legit.ng gathers that INEC returning officer for the election, Professor Sabastine Maimako, declared the result in Makurdi on Sunday, March 24.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
