Obaseki speaks on elections as he reportedly threatens to deal with APC leaders

- Leaders of the APC in Edo state whose activities led to the defeat of the party in the last elections might be dealt with by Governor Godwin Obaseki

- According to a source who pleaded anonymity, Obaseki vowed to deal with them because if it were his re-election that is how he would have lost

- The source further disclosed that the governor he was shocked how the leaders sabotaged his efforts

Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, is said to have started making moves to deal with some leaders of the APC whose activities led to the defeat of the party in the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Nation reports that the government sources said what peeved Obaseki was the wide margin of defeat recorded in Egor, Ikpoba-Okha and Oredo local government areas in Edo south senatorial district.

Obaseki, who hails from Oredo in Edo south senatorial, was said to have issued the threat at a meeting with APC leaders.

A source at a meeting attended Obaseki and some party chieftains disclosed that the governor challenged the affected leaders to reveal what he gave to them.

According to the source, “We were shocked when Obaseki started talking. He revealed so many things. He said he was shocked how the leaders sabotaged his efforts. Obaseki asked them if it were his re-election, that is how he would have lost.

“The governor spoke to a point that he threw away the microphone. None of the leaders utter any word in defense. He has said he would deal with them.

“We are happy that the governor set up a 25-man team to work with him for the purpose of the House of Assembly election this Saturday.”

Legit.ng previously reported that Atiku Abubakar of the PDP defeated his closest rival, Muhammadu Buhari of theAPC in Edo state in the official collation of the presidential election by the INEC.

Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 275,691 votes to defeat the APC's candidate, President Buhari, who polled 267,842 votes.

INEC reported that there were cancellations of the poll in 48 polling units with total registered voters of 42176.
