Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has moved a step closer to being named Manchester United manager on a permanent basis after PSG defeat in the Champions League.

Daily Mail claims the 46-year-old Solskjaer will be handed the managerial role at United on a full-time basis and the big question is when will the Norwegian be confirmed for the job.

The Red Devils massive Champions League result at Parc des Princes on Wednesday night sealed the job for Solskjaer, who has turned around the club’s fortune since replacing Jose Mourinho as interim manager mid-December.

Solskjaer and United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward held talks on Wednesday morning at the club’s hotel in Paris and also has private discussions with co-chairman Avram Glazer moments after the match.

Already, Solskjaer’s teammate Gary Neville hinted that the Norwegian tactician could be named during the forthcoming international break, but Red Devils chiefs insist they are not in hurry to make it public.

However, despite not making any statement while posing for selfies with fans at the airport in Paris, squad members are convinced Solskjaer will emerge permanent manager.

“I think it has been decided,” said striker Romelu Lukaku. “I think he is going to get it = he should get it. When we've won at Tottenham, Chelsea away, at Arsenal in the FA Cup, now this, what else does he have to do?”

“I don't think I need to say much after all these results - it looks certain,” said defender Luke Shaw. “We all love Ole and we love the job he's done so far.

“We're enjoying everything that's going on at the moment and the results have shown that.”

Interestingly, United players could not stop chanting Solskjaer's name after the win in Paris, and the celebrations continued aboard the plane after allowing them to have a beer.
