Lionel Messi on March 7, 2012, recorded his name in the history books of the Champions League by scoring five goals in a match for the Catalan giants.

“It’s not easy to score five goals in one game. I can say that because I only scored 11 in my entire career. Give him another game and he will equal me.

“He is the best in the world and I am lucky to say that I have coached him. He is unique in terms of talent but also in terms of his competitiveness.

“Messi does not think about the big records. He scores one and tries to score the second; he gets the second; and he wants the third; that is how he thinks.

“He is among the greatest of all time. When Di Stefano played they said there would never be another and along came Johan Cruyff; they said there would never be another and along came Maradona; now we have Messi,'' Guardiola said after the match according to Telegraph UK.

But despite Lionel Messi's superb performance in the Champions League for Barcelona in 2012, the club failed to win the championship as Chelsea won the title beating Bayern Munich.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former Spain and Real Madrid manager Vicente del Bosque rated Barcelona star Lionel Messi higher than rival Cristiano Ronaldo claiming that the Argentine is more complete and natural.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are arguably the best football stars in the world for the past 10 years considering what they have achieved in the round leather game.
