Just in: Bauchi PDP praises INEC for resolve to cancel supplementary election

- The Peoples Democratic Party in Bauchi has expressed satisfaction over the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s latest decision in the state

- The PDP said that INEC's resolve to cancel the proposed supplementary poll in the state and collate the results is justice at work

- The PDP in the state also said that it has lost confidence in the police, who, in its opinion, has been compromised

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi on Saturday, March 16, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ‎over the resolve to forgo its plans to conduct a supplementary poll but instead re-collate and adopt the results from Tafawa Balewa local government area.

Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam, the chairman of the PDP in the state the electoral body has finally allowed justice to prevail over the governorship election conducted in the area, Daily Trust reports.

Akuyam said: “They have done justice. We cried foul and they set up a committee to investigate and the committee has done justice. To us, we still have confidence in INEC. What we don’t have confidence in are the police and other security agents who were compromised in all these issues.

“They knew what happened when these people won’t to the collation center and vandalise, they were there. And we were surprised that even the paper that the police usually hold were also vandalised.

"When INEC asked them, they said they’ll were vandalised. Can you imagine somebody going to the Police Station to vandalise the papers?

“So, we don’t have confidence in the Commissioner of Police, we don't have confidence in the Director SSS because they are another set of M.A Abubakar.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that INEC had said that the collation and announcement of results from the Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi for the governorship election would be completed since the duplicate and original registration area results are available.

INEC, through its spokesperson Festus Okoye, revealed that the collation of the said results will take place on Tuesday, March 19.
