I’m not running: Hillary Clinton breaks silence amid speculation she’ll contest for 2020 US presidency

- Hillary Clinton has put an end to the speculation that she will contest for 2020 presidential race

- The 67th US secretary of state and prominent democrat said she will not vie for the White House seat

- Clinton, however, said she will keep on working and standing up for what she believed

Amid wide growing speculation that she would contest for the 2020 US presidential race, former First Lady Hillary Clinton has denied considering another bid for the White House seat.

Legit.ng gathers that Clinton, a prominent democrat and a former US secretary of state, had been rumoured to have been weighing another option of contesting again.

But speaking with New York television ahead of the 2020 election, Clinton said she was not interested in the race, but would only focus on public speaking and fighting for her belief, HuffPost reports.

She said: ''I’m not running. But I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe.

''I want to be sure that people understand I’m going to keep speaking out. I’m not going anywhere. What’s at stake in our country, the kind of things that are happening right now are deeply troubling to me.

''And I’m also thinking hard about how do we start talking and listening to each other again. We’ve gotten into really opposing camps, unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my adult life."

Clinton's declaration has made the Democratic party door wide open with top politicians including former vice president Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders indicating interest in the White House race.

Clinton was defeated by incumbent President Donald Trump in 2016.

Sanders, who was Clinton's primary challenger in 2016, raised nearly $6 million in the first 24 hours after announcing his campaign.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
