Governor Amosun’s suspension nails APC casket in Ogun - Group

- Reactions continue to trail the suspension of Governor Ibikunle Amosun from the APC

- Amosun was expelled by the NWC of the party alongside his Imo state counterpart, Rochas Okorocha

- A group in Ogun says the suspension of Amosun nails APC casket in the state

The Movement for Yewa/Awori for Governor (MOYAG) has described the suspension of Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the end of the party in the state.

The group in a press briefing in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, said Governor Amosun’s suspension is a suspension of the party in the state.

At a press conference in Abeokuta on Monday, March 4, the group's convener, Mr. Sola Oyekanmi, canvassed support for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade.

He noted that Amosun’s suspension was hinged on his commitment to ensure justice and equity for Yewa/Awori to produce the next governor.

He said the group is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that a Yewa indigene becomes the next governor of the state, stressing that the district has not produced the governor since the creation of the state over 42 years ago.

Two candidates from Ogun West senatorial district (Yewa area), Akinlade (APM) and Gboyega Isiaka of African Democratic Congress (ADC), are vying for the governorship seat.

But the group maintained that Akinlade was considered the better option, after extensive research into his antecedents.

Oyekanmi insisted that Akinlade’s rich legislative experience would be used for the benefit of the state, adding that the only way Ogun people could appreciate outgoing Governor Amosun’s good works was to vote the APM candidate.

Amosun and his Imo state counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, were recently suspended by the ruling party's National Working Committee.

Reacting to his suspension from the ruling party, Okorocha said APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole is plotting to destroy the APC in the southeast.
