On his part, the commissioner for special duties and aviation, Mr. Akan Okon, who took the governor round the project site, reechoed the governor's statement that the decision to embark on the building a 21-storey business tower was to create an enabling environment for multinational and IOCs to move their administrative base to the state.

He disclosed that the building will be fitted with latest communication and logistical technologies to suit all needs of international business community expected to occupy it, adding “with this edifice, the state government would have removed all excuses over lack of basic infrastructure for IOCs to establish their administrative headquarters in Uyo.”

“As the governor has noted, the contractor is working on schedule and following the specifications strictly, we hoped to commission towards the end of 2019.

“The choice of Udo Udoma Avenue for erecting the edifice was for convenience and security since most of several the financial institutions have their headquarters there. We believe this will further develop adjoining areas,” he added.

The project is expected to gulp approximately N19 billion and is being funded through Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
