Few days after New Zealand mosque shooting, another gunman opens fire on tram in Dutch city

An unidentified man has opened fire in a tram in the Dutch city of Utrecht, leaving one person feared dead and several people injured, the BBC reports.

According to the newspaper, the police have cordoned off a square near the tram station in the west of the city and emergency services are at the scene.

Police say they are investigating a “possible terrorist motive” while the Dutch anti-terrorism co-ordinator has also reportedly called a meeting.

Legit.ng gathers that the gunman is still at large as he reportedly fled the scene by car. Prime Minister Mark Rutte said he was "deeply concerned".

The shooting took place around the 24 Oktoberplein junction at about 10:45 local time (09:45 GMT). Three helicopters have been despatched.

Security services have reportedly told Utrecht's University Medical Centre to open the dedicated emergency ward to help care for the injured.

According to BBC, a witness told Dutch public broadcaster NOS he saw an injured woman with blood on her hands and clothes.

"I brought her into my car and helped her," he said. "When the police arrived, she was unconscious."

As at the time of filing this report, it is unknown how many were injured or how seriously they were hurt.

Utrecht's transport authority said tram services in the city have all been cancelled.

This is coming few days after a 28-year-old white supremacist opened fire at two mosques in the City of Christchurch, New Zealand, leaving 49 people dead.

The police in New Zealand confirmed that there were multiple fatalities after shootings at two mosques in the city of Christchurch.

According to the police commissioner, Mike Bush, three men and one woman are in custody in connection with the shooting.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo.
