Discouraged Oyo voters turn back home as armed thugs allegedly invade polling units, force people to vote for APC candidate

- Voters in parts of Oyo are allegedly being forced by armed thugs, to vote for candidates of the APC

- As a result of the development, many voters are reportedly returning back to their homes

- The Oyo governorship seat is being contested by about 37 individuals; however, the real battle is between the APC and PDP candidates

Armed touts are allegedly forcing some voters in Ogbomosho South local government area of Oyo state to vote for All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates.

According to Premium Times, the election malpractice is taking place in Ward 4, Polling Unit 5, Polling Unit 6 and Polling Unit 7, Ogbomosho South, where voters are being forced by the touts, to show their ballot papers after voting.

Legit.ng gathers that as a result of the development, many voters are returning back to their homes, as they are discouraged to take part in the exercise.

The polling unit area where this illegal practice is allegedly occurring is that of Buhari Abdulfatai, the APC senator-elect who emerged victorious in the February 23 senatorial election in the area.

With the victory, Fatai became the first senator to win election twice in Oyo North senatorial district.

The Oyo governorship seat is being contested by about 37 candidates; however, the contest is really between the APC’s Adebayo Adelabu and Oluseyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, the PDP chairman in Oyo state, expressed confidence that the party would win in six out of the seven political zones in the state conveniently, during the March 9 polls.

Mustapha told newsmen in Iseyin, that the party was confident of massive support by the people of the state.
