Desist from acts capable of causing violence - Police tell Kano residents

- Kano residents have been warned against acts capable of breaching the existing peace in the state

- The state police command gave the warning following the declaration of the governorship election inconclusive

- According to the command’s public relations officer, Abdullahi Haruna, anybody caught violating the order would be arrested and charged to court

The Kano state police command has warned residents of the state against acts capable of breaching the existing peace in the state following the declaration of the governorship election inconclusive.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the command’s public relations officer, Abdullahi Haruna, gave the warning in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday, March 11, in Kano.

Haruna stressed the need for the people of the state to remain calm and avoid anything that might lead to break down of law and order.

The police spokesman warned that the command would not fold its arms and allow some disgruntled elements to breach the peace over the outcome of the polls.

According to him, anybody caught violating the order or trying to cause trouble would be arrested and charged to court.

Haruna said: “The state police command wishes to warn residents of the state, especially the youth, to desist from acts capable of causing disaffection among residents.

''The police in the state will not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with anyone caught trying to cause trouble.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship election held on March 9 inconclusive.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Muhammad Abdullahi Sugar, a political associate of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, described the Kano state police commissioner, Mohammed Wakil, as the hero of the 2019 general elections.

Sugar has urged the acting inspector general of police, Mohammad Adamu to single out the Kano police commissioner for commendation for the way he carried out his duties during the 2019 general elections.

He implored other police officers in the country to emulate Wakil, noting that their duty is to work in the interest of the country.

Sugar also insisted that Atiku won the presidential election but noted that the results were rigged in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The outcome of the presidential election had shown that Atiku won before the votes were manipulated.
