Chelsea star finally proposes to his long-term girlfriend in an extravagant way (video)

- David Luiz went down on his knees to ask his girlfriend Sara Madeira to marry him

- The Brazilian was left out of Tite's squad that will face Panama and Czech Republic

- Luiz was once confronted by the media in 2015 following claims he has never slept with a woman

David Luiz finally proposed to his girlfriend of many years Sara Madeira with a display of silver fireworks and lights.

The Chelsea center-half who is a strong character of the field of play, showed he is equally as creative in his personal life.

Luiz who has known Madeira since he was a teenager in Benfica, went down one knee to ask the Portuguese dentist to marry him and she obviously said yes.

The clip was shared to Instagram by video-sharing app Otro, who captioned the post: "We hear wedding bells! David Luiz proposed in emphatic style. Congrats guys!"

The 31-year-old who was left out of Brazil's squad for their friendlies against Panama and the Czech Republic, used the opportunity to celebrate his 28-year-old fiancee.

Luiz was plagued by reports that he was waiting until he is married before making love for the first time due to his devout Christianity back in 2015.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain star hit back at the reports at the time by revealing that although he has been dating Madeira for several years, he has also had multiple relationships.

He told the BBC's Football Focus: "People are saying things everywhere about whether I'm a vi.rgin or not. I'm not a vi.rgin. I've had more than one girlfriend in my life."
