Hassan explained that their decision was informed by the campaign promise of Akinlade to sustain the rebuilding agenda of the Ibikunke Amosun-led administration, particularly infrastructural development.

He said: “Amosun has laid a solid foundation for development in Ogun and we believe the work must be sustained, otherwise it will amount to a waste.

“Ibikunke Amosun-led administration has been generous and favourable to us. His government is a government that accommodates all, irrespective of tribe or religious affiliation and we see Akinlade following his footsteps and sustaining such legacy.''

Akinlade, in his response, urged the people to vote for him, adding that anyone who did not have the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) should mobilise those who had to vote for him.

He said: “My intentions for the state are pure and good and if elected, I will ensure that you are free to transact your businesses and your children will continue to go to school without intimidation.

“I also assure you that if I am elected as the governor of the state, I will appoint Hausa-Fulani indigene into my cabinet.''

The event was attended by the national chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, heads of the various Hausa-Fulani communities across the state as well as members and chieftains of the party.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
