Barca boss Valverde makes 1 statement about embattled Real Madrid boss amid sack claims

- Ernesto Valverde says Real Madrid boss Solari is as good as Mourinho and Zidane

- The Spaniard has been under serious scrutiny from the club fans owing to his side's poor performances in all competitions

- Real currently sit third on La Liga table with 48 points after 26 matches - 12 behind Barcelona

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has thrown his weight behind underfire Real Madrid boss amid sack rumours.

The 42-year-old has been heavily criticised recently owing to his side's poor run in all competitions since he took over in October.

He was unable to keep his side from crashing out of both Champions League and Copa Del Rey championships this campaign.

Solari also suffered back to back defeats to their arch rivals within four days in two different tourneys - hence the major reason the Spaniard could be sacked at the end of this term.

However, Valverde, who seems to be coasting to victory in the Spanish League as Barca sits atop of the log with seven points better than Atletico Madrid.

And the Blaugrana handler believes Solari is as good as Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane, both of who won titles for the club.

Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage - the first time in about six years after losing 4-1 to Ajax, 5-2 on aggregate earlier this week.

Having taken a 2-1 advantage over the Dutch side in the reverse fixture played last month in the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Solari's men after their 1-0 defat to Barcelona at home means they are now 12 points off their rivals at the league’s summit.

It has also been filtering the media space that Los Blancos are planning to re-hire Mourinho owing to the club's three successive home losses.

When asked about Zidane and Mourinho, the Barca head coach told reporters: "They're good coaches and I have no doubt about that, as they've demonstrated it. Just like Solari is as well.”

Barcelona stand a chance of moving ten points clear on the table if they beat Rayo Vallecano on Saturday and Atletico Madrid lose to Leganes in the day’s earlier game.

Los Blancos on the other hand travel to Real Valladolid on Sunday, with the reigning European champions sitting third in the table, five points behind their city rivals Atletico.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari has explained that he will not walk away at the Spanish club despite Los Blancos' exit in the Champions League.

The 42-year-old Argentine football manager is now under serious pressure after Real Madrid were beaten at home 4-1 by Ajax in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

Real Madrid were also knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Barcelona last week and trail their bitter rivals by 12 points in La Liga.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
