Aisha Buhari commends Nigerians for voting her husband, holds victory dinner

- The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, has applauded Nigerians for her husband's re-election

- Mrs Buhari said especially thanked women and youths for making the victory possible

- The first lady also used the opportunity to pledge her continued support for women and youths empowerment.

Hajia Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, March 7, commended Nigerians for re-electing her husband for a second tenure in office.

Mrs Buhari made the commendation in Daura, in an address at a dinner she organised to mark the electoral victory of her husband, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

She particularly commended women and youths for making the feat possible, and described them as the vanguard of positive change and transformation.

The president’s wife promised to continue to support women and youth in empowerment programmes, health issues and education.

In his remarks, the minister of state for Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika, also commended the resilience and doggedness of Nigerians that ensured a second term for Buhari.

He described Buhari as “a strict disciplinarian, who abhors injustice and dishonesty”.

He said: "Buhari is committed and determined to fight corruption. He also wants to promote agriculture and improve security, especially in the rural areas."

He said that Buhari’s anti-corruption polices had made impacts in the executive, legislative and judicial arms of government, saying that the president had instilled due process, probity and accountability in all sectors.

In a brief address, Senator Ahmed Babba-Kaita assured Nigerians of the determination of the 9th assembly to support President Muhammad Buhari to succeed .

He lauded the efforts of the president’s wife toward a better life for the poor via her pet projects, and promised to continue to support such efforts.

Hajiya Zakiya Aminu Masari, wife of Katsina governor, assured Mrs Buhari of the support and commitments of millions of women and youths toward the success of the Buhari administration.

NAN also reports that thousands of women and youths from different parts of Nigeria attended the event held at the Daura township stadium .

Highlights of the event included musical entertainments, speeches, traditional and modern dances, and various other shows.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that Aisha Buhari, on Friday, February 8, was on a door-to-door campaign, seeking for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 presidential election.

Aisha, who was represented by the senior special assistant to the president on administration, Hajo Sani, also led the campaign team to the palace of Gomo of Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Alhaji Haruna Tanko Jibrin, to solicit his support and royal blessings.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
