Aguero on fire as Man City destroy Fulham to stay top on the EPL standings

- Fulham vs Manchester City's Premier League game ended 2-0 in favor of the Citizens

- Bernardo Silva and leading scorer Sergio Aguero netted the two goals for Manchester City

- Manchester City are still topping the Premier League standings with 80 points after 32 games

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday, March 30, extended their lead on the top of the standings after beating Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage.

Pep Guardiola's men went into the encounter with only one point separating them with second placed Liverpool and knew a win would be of great help to their title ambition.

Manchester City scored their first goal in the 5th minute of the encounter through Bernardo Silva who was superbly assisted by Sergio Aguero.

Fulham had the chance two minutes later to restore parity when Floyd Ayite provided an excellent pass for Ryan Babel, but the ex Liverpool star failed to beat goalkeeper Ederson.

Bernardo Silva however provided a glorious assist in the 27th minute for Argentine football star Sergio Aguero to score the second goal.

The hosts tried all they could to score at least a goal towards the end of the first 45 minutes, but they were unable to break Manchester City defense.

Riyad Mahrez came on as a substitute for Raheem Sterling at the death and had a chance to score only for him to be denied by goalkeeper Sergio Rico as the match ended 2-0.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Real Madrid star Isco emerged as a target for Premier League champions Manchester City and the Citizens will have to meet his transfer clause to sign him.

Although the Spanish football star is under contract at Real Madrid till the year 2022, but lack of active playing time this season at the Bernabeu could force him out of the club.

Manchester City are said to be readying a bid of around £80m, but Real Madrid will be reluctant to accept anything below €100m (£89.95m).

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,
