39 political parties, 15 governorship candidates endorse Nafada for Gombe governor

- Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe state, Bayero Nafada, has been endorsed by the Coalition of United Political Parties

- Nafada has also been endorsed by 15 governorship candidates

- According to CUPP and the 15 governorship candidates, they are endorsing Nefada based on credibility

Ahead of the Saturday, March 9 governorship election, Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), consisting 39 political parties and 15 governorship candidates, have endorsed PDP’s Bayero Nafada as their candidate in Gombe.

The coalition, in a statement signed by Mohammed Adamu and Sunday Paris, chairman and secretary of CUPP in the state respectively, said that the endorsement was done after a critical assessment of the PDP government’s achievements in Gombe, NAN reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the statement, which was made available to newsmen on Thursday in Gombe, particularly commended the strides in the educational, health and agricultural sectors, and urged voters to vote for continuity so as to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

The statement read: “We are endorsing our candidate based on credibility; we want to consolidate on the gains of the present administration."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that domestic election observers in Bauchi state called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies to provide crowd control officers at voting centres during the governorship and state Assembly elections.

Speaking through their team leader, Friday Maduka, during a press conference in Bauchi on Thursday, March 7, the observers said there was need for proper control of voters in queues for voting to be smooth and hitch-free.

They also called on INEC to ensure that personnel handling Smart Card Readers (SCRs) were adequately trained on how to operate the device.

The observers urged security agents to check the activities of political thugs in the state to avert their being used as tool to disrupt the election process.

On the role expected of media organisations, they reminded journalists of the ethics of their profession, saying that nothing short of highest display of patriotism was expected.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
