The report said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, set up the special committee, headed by Major-General Gagariga.

The committee is reportedly to investigate the conduct of army personnel during the elections.

It is also expected to visit the areas of the country where the soldiers were alleged to have interfered in the election.

It added that the Army authorities had, through a letter from the office of the Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), summoned commanders of the affected units and that some of them in the north east have reported and are currently undergoing interrogation.

The report added that commanders from some Niger Delta states, like Delta and Akwa Ibom, have reported to the army headquarters.

The commanders from Rivers state, where the major crisis took place, are expected today.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Nigerian Army refuted the allegation that it was its men perpetrating series of killings during the ongoing governorship and House of Assembly election across the country.

In a statement released by the force in a counter reaction to the reports of its alleged politicization, the Nigerian Army acting director of pubic relation Colonel Sagir Musa, said the growing insinuation that the force was responsible for killing during polls was not true.
