Legit.ng notes that unclaimed PVCs, ballot boxes, generators filled with fuel, cubicles, newly printed electronic and manual voters register among other materials were destroyed during the fire outbreak.

In the statement, Abraham wondered: “What then becomes of the fate of the owners of the PVCs when they show up at the INEC office on Monday (February 11), the last collection day?”

He said: “It is now left to the relevant experts to investigate and release their findings on the cause of the inferno. The council demands that the findings be made public to address any concerns.

“The PDP State Campaign Council is also concerned about the over seven thousand unclaimed PVCs (as at last Friday) that were lost in the fire.

“INEC must work out equal voting opportunity for those whose cards might have been destroyed in the fire.

“The council calls on INEC and the security services to put all necessary measures in place to improve the overall security of every INEC office across the state.

“The council calls on its members and supporters to cooperate with INEC and security personnel to ensure the safety and sanctity of materials, personnel and buildings.”

The PDP also implored the electoral commission to deploy “the greatest speed in restoring what was lost and securing what is to be replaced in time enough for the election ahead.”

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
