Dear Nigerian Youth,
My name is Joel Nwokeoma. I'm a journalist, civic educator and behavioural change communicator.
The much awaited election week in Nigeria has come. Saturday is the D-Day for national elections to elect the president and federal lawmakers.
Please note that your only duty is to vote and not fight. Voting is a civic duty. Fighting isn't.
Refuse to be deployed to snatch ballot box or destroy voting materials. Don't be used for electoral violence either.

If asked to do so, demand to see the children of the politicians leading the way.
Their children are nowhere near polling units. Most are monitoring their parents' political investment through the social media. Drinking coffee overseas. Enjoying and frolicking. Or have you seen any of #Atiku, #Buhari, #PeterObi, #Tinubu and #Osinbajo's children hanging on the roof of a fast moving vehicle waving flags and banners? Risking their lives for their parents' ambition?
If you die fighting for a politician's political ambition, you died in vain. Your parents and family are the losers. There will be no monument for you anywhere. You won't be buried in a cemetery sef.
Politicians don't die in or because of elections, they defect to another party when they lose out. Don't die for them! Please!

If you don't want to vote, stay at home. Steer clear of voting venues. There is life after elections. Politicians and their families, obviously not You, will be the first partakers of the spoils of office after elections. Get sense and live for your parents.
I don talk finis!
