Messi's return to Argentina national team suffers setback after coach makes stunning revelation

- Lionel Messi may not return to the Argentine national team anytime soon

- Coach Scaloni insists the Barcelona star has not been in touch with him

- Messi last played for his country against France in World Cup round of 16

Lionel Messi's return to the Argentine national team has suffered another setback as La Albiceleste captain has not been communicating with coach Lionel Scaloni.

Scaloni has admitted that the Barcelona talisman has not been keeping in touch for a while which has cast doubt over his possible appearance at the Copa America slated for June.

The 31-year-old has not worn the blue and white stripe colours of his country since they were ousted at the World Cup in the round of 16 by eventual winners France.

After the competition in Russia, there were rumours going the round Messi would quit the international scene, and has not played in the last six matches for his country following his self-imposed exile.

Reports also claim that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will be available for the friendly against Venezuela in March.

And now that Messi is currently nursing a thigh injury, he may skip the encounter slated for March 22, with Scaloni insisting he has not spoken with him.

"I have not talked to Messi for a while now," Scaloni said.

"He has a match in a few days and we'll see if he can play."

Messi is presently top scorer for the Selecion with 65 goals and he is just 19 matches away from equaling Javier Mascherano's all-time record of 147 matches.

The Barcelona academy graduate had previously announced his retirement form the national team in 2016 after losing the Copa America final to Chile but had a change of heart.

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,

The pioneering phase of African Poetry

The pioneering phase We have called the first phase that of the pioneers. But since the phrase “pioneer poets” has often been used of writers of English expression like Osadebay, Casely-Hayford and Dei-Anag, we should point out that our “pioneer phase” also includes Negritude poets of French expression. The poetry of this phase is that of writers in “exile” keenly aware of being colonials, whose identity was under siege. It is a poetry of protest against exploitation and racial discrimination, of agitation for political independence, of nostalgic evocation of Africa’s past and visions of her future. However, although these were themes common to poets of both English and French expression, the obvious differences between the Francophone poets and the Anglophone writers of the 1930s and 1940s have been generally noted. Because of the intensity with which they felt their physical exile from Africa, coupled with their exposure to the experimental contemporary modes of writing in F
