Manchester City players were on Sunday evening, February 24, seen in joyous mood wearing their Carabao Cup medals when they arrived at the airport after their win over rivals Chelsea.

The Etihad landlords defeated the Blues on penalties in a tough match played at the Wembley Stadium as City began their search for a quadruple this season.

Players like Vincent Kompany, Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker were all pictured arriving back with medals around their necks as Manchester City won their first trophy of the season.

Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan and Fabian Delph also opted to keep the winners medal around their neck on their arrival.

A member of Manchester City's security team was all smiles as he was trusted to carry the Carabao Cup after the team's arrival back in the City.

Manchester City went into the Carabao Cup final match against Chelsea with confidence having defeated the Blues 6-0 in a Premier League match the last time they met.

Pep Guardiola's men are still fighting to retain their Premier League title this season, and they are also on the verge of reaching the Champions League quarterfinal.

Manchester City will now be preparing for their next Premier League encounter against West Ham United at the Etihad stadium on Wednesday, February 27.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester City were crowned the 2019 EFL Cup champions after beating Chelsea on penalties at the Wembley Stadium.

The Citizens beat Chelsea 4-3 on penalties after both teams failed to find the back of the net in open play after 120 minutes.

Manchester City's victory means that the Etihad Stadium outfit have won six EFL Cup titles since the start of the competition - after successfully defending the title they won last term.
