Kaduna attack: Miyetti Allah begs community against reprisal, commends El-Rufai

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has reportedly appealed to the Fulani community in Kaduna against carrying out a reprisal following the alleged attack on Kajuru village in the state that led to the killing of about 66 people.

The association also commended Governor Nasir el-Rufai over the way he handled the attack on the community.

The women leader of MACBAN, Hajiya Khadijah Ardido, was quoted by Vanguard as lamenting that some people tried to dismiss the grievous issue of killing of women and children.

“As I speak to you, some of the injured victims are still in the hospital. It is painful that Fulani are being killed not only in Kaduna state but in several other parts of the country and little or nothing is being done about it.

“The government must rise to this challenge and stop all forms of unwarranted killings. There must be respect for human lives.

“Our people have always been very patient and tolerant and I am still encouraging them to remain patient, disciplined and tolerant in the face of any provocation.

“The government should ensure that proper investigation is carried out and whoever is found guilty should be made to face the full wrath of the law, at least to serve as deterrent to others now and in the future,” she said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Kaduna state gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Isah Ashiru urged the state government and security agencies to fish out and prosecute those involved in the killings of villagers in Kajuru area of the state.

Ashiru, in a statement issued in Kaduna on Monday, February 18, expressed shock by the report of the murder of innocent people, describing the situation as unfortunate.

”This unfortunate incident is not only an unwanted addition to the list of the past similar ones, but is also a clear indication that insecurity still remains a huge challenge in some parts of Kaduna state," he said.

However, the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) on Sunday, February 17, asked Nigerians to hold Nasir el-Rufai responsible for any breakdown of law and order just as it asked for investigation into claims of the killing of some Fulanis.

The group asked the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to conduct the investigation and tell the world what actually happened in Kajuru, where the governor claimed 66 people were killed.
