Just in: Governor Bello expresses disappointment as faulty card reader delays his voting

- Governor Yahaya Bello is yet to cast his vote at his ward unit 011 in Agassa Okene-eba Ahachi

- This was as the smart card reader in use was malfunctioning since his arrival at the ward at 8am

- It was reported that following the development, Governor Bello left the queue and went back to his car

Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has been reported to be unable to cast his vote at Agassa Okene-eba Ahachi ward unit 011 following some technical faults in the available card reader.

Owing to this, Governor Bello who is said to have been at the polling unit with his wives since 8am, has remained stranded.

Daily Trust reports that as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were trying to fix the problem, the governor in disappointment, left the queue and returned to his car. Newsmen also gathered that only one card reader was available at the polling unit.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term is gradually winding up as Nigerians troop to the polls today, Saturday, February 23, to decide who will be Nigeria’s next president.

Although there are 72 presidential candidates slugging it out in the 2019 presidential elections, five candidates stand out among the rest: President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who wants to take Nigeria to “the next level”, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who wants to “make Nigeria work again, and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC) who wants to “take Nigeria back”.

Others are Kingsley Moghalu of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) who wants to “offer Nigeria visionary, purposeful, competent leadership to build our future” and Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) who wants “to build a coalition of ideas around a strong ideology of a New Nigeria where things work and everyone is working to make things work”.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
