Economist and Nigeria's former minister of finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has denied a report that she said at a recent conference that Biafra has the potential to become one of the richest countries in the world.

There are reports in some online newspapers (not Legit.ng) that Dr Ngozi Iweala claimed that the largest mineral resources will be found in Eastern part of Nigeria.

According to the report, the former minister said that through the resources available in the south-east, she can make Biafra the fourth richest country in the world.

However, the former minister, in a post on her official Twitter page, said she did not say that and the report is fake and mischievous. She urged the public to disregard it.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) urged all stakeholders, politicians, security operatives and others to be law abiding and observe the rules of engagement in the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement obtained by PR Nigeria and signed by Peter Afunanya, DSS public relations officer, politicians and the youth are expected to shun all acts of violence.

The service also stated that it will professionally discharge its statutory mandate to detect and prevent threats and crimes against the internal security in the country.
