Just In: EFCC drills DSS finance director for alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is reportedly interrogating the finance director of the Department of State Service (DSS), Kunle Kadri, for alleged fraud and mismanagement of public fund.

A source from the EFCC told Premium Times that Kadri is being interrogated by the anti-graft agency for alleged fraud linked to the former director general of the DSS, Lawal Daura.

Daura was sacked from office in 2018 after a controversial event when officials of the DSS invaded the National Assembly.

Operatives of the EFCC reportedly claimed that they believe Kadri will help provide information around the controversy surrounding the N10.2 billion supplementary budget that the SSS received, in part, for its elections operations.

The source reportedly said that since Kadri has worked with the past three directors-general of the DSS, he is in a better position to help the EFCC with their investigations.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the DSS asked the public to desist from engaging its sacked director general, Lawal Daura, on its behalf.

The warning was contained in a statement on Tuesday, February 19, by the spokesperson for DSS, Peter Afunanya.

The DSS said it had been receiving reports that Daura still wields influence in its internal affairs, despite the fact that he had been fired for months.
