A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, February 4, stood down for one hour, the N6.9 billion fraud trial of the immediate past governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Peter Fayose.
A former minister of state for defense, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who is the fifth prosecution witness, was billed for cross examination on Monday, NAN reports.

Legit.ng gathers that he testified at the last adjourned date, on January 21, saying that Fayose received five million dollars and some amounts of naira from the impress account of a former national security adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), in June 2014.
Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, handling the trial, rose shortly after the court began sitting to attend an official function. She said that she would be back in an hour to continue with the case.
Fayose was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on October 22, 2018, alongside a company, Spotless Investment Ltd., on 11 counts.
He, however, pleaded not guilty, and was granted bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum.
When the case was called on Monday, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) announced appearance for EFCC, while Kanu Agabi (SAN) and Olalekan Ojo (SAN) appeared for the accused.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that Musiliu Obanikoro, former minister of state for defense, testified that he was directed to pay the sum of $5 million from the national security funds to Ayodele Fayose.
Obanikoro, who appeared before the Federal High Court in Lagos, said: “A total equivalent of $5 million from the national security adviser impress account was given to Fayose by the order of NSA.”
Kanu Agabi (SAN), the counsel to Fayose, applied for an adjournment to enable him to cross-examine Obanikoro. He said he would need more time to look through his statements before cross-examining the witness.
