I regret backing Oshiomhole for APC chairmanship - Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has reportedly said he regrets backing Adams Oshiomhole to emerge as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The outgoing governor who is the Imo west APC senatorial candidate at a campaign in Orlu Township Stadium on Monday, February 4, accused Oshiomhole of being among those against him politically, The Guardian reports.

“My finishing governor as is not a full-stop. It is a comma because after every comma, a sentence will follow. Those who are afraid of me politically have ganged up to fight me, including the person I supported to become the national chairman. That is why they brought Hope Uzodinma. He is not running for any election, but was only recruited to fight me in my Orlu zone," Rochas Okorocha said.

He said his motive for contesting for the Senate election to attract a lot of things for Orlu people, just as he did as governor

“When I go to the Senate, there will be a massive difference. Nzeribe, Izunaso and Uzodinma had wasted the position for years, as there is no project they can boast of in Orlu zone. They were only interested in their pockets,” the governor said.

“Please, ask Osita Izunaso what he has been able to attract to Orlu zone for the four years he spent in the House of Representatives and four years he spent as a senator, not even a bungalow was attracted to Orlu zone. So, he should go and sit down."

In another news report, Peter Obi, the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said his party has a workable plan to turnaround the economic challenges facing Nigeria.

Speaking with traders at the Alaba International market, Ojo, Lagos state, on Monday, February 4, Obi noted that party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had a good understanding of the economy, The Nation reports.

He said Atiku, having successfully managed the economy as vice-president in the past, added with the experience of managing several private companies successfully, would use his in-depth knowledge to tackle economic problems facing the country.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
