Footballers around the world pay heartfelt tribute to Emiliano Sala after body was identified

Emiliano Sala's confirmed death has continued to draw attention from footballers around the world as several players paid tribute to the Argentine striker.

The 28-year-old's body was confirmed after rescuers discovered the body 220ft beneath the seabed on the English channel.

Sala had just completed a £15million to Premier League side Cardiff City days before his disappearance.

Players around the world including Kylian Mbappe, Alexandre Lacazette and Benjamin Mendy led the tributes on social media after Dorset Police said they had identified the body.

A statement posted on Cardiff's official website read: "It is with great sadness that we report the following statement, issued on February 7 2019 by the Dorset Police: 'The body brought to Portland Port today, Thursday 7 February 2019, has been formally identified by HM Coroner for Dorset as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala.

"'The families of Mr Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson have been updated with this news and will continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.'

"We offer our most heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of Emiliano. He and David will forever remain in our thoughts."

Paris Saint-Germain sensation Mbappe who donated £26,000 to help fund the private search for the plane posted a photo of a candle burning with 'Sala 9' on it.

He wrote alongside the image: "RIP EMI."

Arsenal striker Lacazette posted a photo of Sala with the message "1990-2019 RIP."

Also, Man City star Mendy posted a photo of the Argentine celebrating when he was with Nantes and wrote: "RIP."

Cardiff defender and captain Sol Bamba tweeted: "Tragic. May you rest in peace."

Crystal Palace o loan striker from Chelsea Mitchy Batshuayi wrote: "Resting in peace."

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) wrote on their official Twitter: "We send our condolences to all your family and loved ones."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Emiliano Sala's former side Nantes are demanding Cardiff City pay the sum of £15million transfer fee for their missing striker.

The plot now thickens in the recent tragedy that witnessed the Piper Malibu carrying the striker and pilot David Ibbotson, disappear off radar.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
