Ex-Osun governor Aregbesola reacts to PDP's protest, petition against Osun election

- The immediate governor of Osun state, Raufu Aregbesola, has reacted to the protest trailing the result of the state's last guber election

- Reacting to the protest by some top PDP leaders against the outcome of the poll, Aregbesola said the opposition party's leaders are mentally unstable

- The ex-governor also refuted rumours that the last gubernatorial election in the state was marred by violence and manipulation

The immediate governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has reacted to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s petition and protest challenging the victory of incumbent governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola.

Reacting to questions during an interview with State House correspondents, Aregbesola said the leaders of the opposition party, who protested against the alleged rigging and manipulation of last governorship election in the state were ''mentally unstable, '' Punch reports.

Legit.ng recalls that following the declaration of Oyetola as the winner of the Osun gubernatorial poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), aggrieved candidate of PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke, dragged the electoral umpire, APC and INEC before the petition.

But in a reaction, the ex-governor, who handed the baton of leadership to Oyetola, said there was no iota of truth in the PDP-Adeleke's claims that the election was marred by rigging and manipulation of high magnitude that cannot be overlooked.

He also chided PDP leaders including Senate president, Bukola Saraki, Uche Secondus, Yakubu Dogara and other who staged a protest to INEC headquarters in Abuja to register their displeasure.

Legit.ng had previously reported that with post-electoral tussle ongoing at the tribunal following the 2018 Osun gubernatorial election, the state collation officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adegboyega Rasaki Adeosun, had opened up as to why there was a rerun for the election.

Speaking as a witness to the election before the tribunal, Adeosun revealed that the rerun was mandatory to prevent disenfranchisement of some electorate in the poll.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
