Elections 2019: Teslim Folarin makes successful comeback to Senate as he wins seat for Oyo Central

- Senator Teslim Folarin of the APC has been declared winner of the senatorial election for Oyo Central

- Folarin polled 91,080 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Bisi Ilaka of the PDP who secured 83,600 votes

- This would be the third time the former Senate leader will be elected into the red chamber of the National Assembly

Senator Teslim Folarin, a former Senate leader and All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Oyo Central has emerged winner of the Saturday, February 23 National Assembly polls in Oyo state.

Prof Peter Falayi from University of Ibadan, who is the returning officer for Oyo Central senatorial district, made the announcement in Ibadan on Monday morning, February 25, NAN reports.

Legit.ng gathers that Falayi declared Folarin winner, having secured 91,080 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Bisi Ilaka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 83,600 votes.

The incumbent senator of the district on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Monsurat Sunmonu, polled 41, 657 votes while Temitope Olatoye of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) polled 41,377 votes.

The results which were announced amid heavy security was witnessed and signed by APC, PDP, ADC and ADP agents.

This would be the third time the former Senate leader will be elected into the red chamber of the National Assembly.

He was earlier in the red chamber in 2003 and 2007.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the Ondo South senatorial election inconclusive.

Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo of the PDP polled 79,029 votes, while his closest rival, the current senator, Yele Omogunwa of the APC scored 51,993 votes.

Prof Kayode Onifade, the INEC returning officer for Ondo South, also of the Department of Micro-Biology, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), who declared the election inconclusive, cited various irregularities.
