This development follows a previous report by Legit.ng that the director-general of the national task force on prohibition of illegal importation of small arms, ammunition, Osita Okereke, alleged that ahead of the 2019 general elections, Nigeria’s governors, candidates and other politicians were stockpiling arms.

The arms, according to Okereke, are meant to kit the thugs of the politicians and candidates and governors, whose names he did not mention.

Okereke spoke at the National Assembly, on the need for the Senate to quickly pass the bill on prohibition of illegal importation of small arms, ammunition and light weapons and other related matters.
