Elections 2019: No amount of manipulation can stop us - APC dares INEC

- The Rivers state APC has said no amount of INEC manipulation will stop it from participating in the 2019 general elections, despite Supreme Court ruling

- Recall that the Supreme Court had barred APC candidates from participating in the elections

- The party agents in Rivers state say they we are expecting to see their candidates on the ballot and anything short of that would be unacceptable and they would resist it

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it will participate in the 2019 general elections in Rivers state.

This is despite the Supreme Court ruling excluding the party's candidates in the National Assembly, governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

The party's agents deployed to polling units in the state capital, Port Harcourt, told Legit.ng that they are under instructions from their party to ensure they are listed and participate in the polls.

One of the APC agents, Darlington Oliver, told Legit.ng that the Supreme Court's verdict does not exclude the party's candidates from participating in the polls.

His words: "We are fully in this election. No amount of INEC manipulation can stop us. We will deliver PMB and deliver APC to Rivers state."

When reminded by Legit.ng reporter about the Supreme Court's verdict, the APC agent said the apex court's ruling was a stay of order for a previous ruling.

According to him, the ruling was silent on whether the APC can field candidates in the election or not.

Another APC agent, Nnaemeka Anyadike, corroborated his colleague's stance, saying, "once the materials arrive, we are expecting to see our candidates on the ballot. Anything short of that would be unacceptable and we would resist it."

Meanwhile, voting is yet to commence as at 8:39am in several polling units visited by Legit.ng in Port Harcourt. Some others have, however, commenced accreditation and voting.

As the residents of Port Harcourt prepare to vote, dynamite explosions have been heard in several parts of the state capital. Areas affected include Rumuola and Diobu in the state capital.
