Elections 2019: Nigerian celebs react to news of postponed elections

Many socially conscious Nigerians had been looking forward to February 16, 2019, a day that was set aside for electorates to cast their votes in the presidential election.

However in the early hours of the assigned date, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the election has been postponed to February 23, and March 9, 2019.

The news of the date change has been met with hostility and anger among Nigerians who feel that INEC had at least four years to get things right without embarrassing the nation.

Many Nigerians had made plans and even travelled to their polling units to enable them vote and the postponement has affected them.

A number of Nigerian celebrities have also been left disappointed and many of them took to social media to air their views.

Meanwhile, on-air-personality (OAP) Dotun added that he was already prepared to vote to the extent of him going to bed early so as to be well rested for the next day, only to wake up to the news of the postponement.

Media girl, Toke Makinwa, also expressed her anger at the news. She had moved to her parent's house so as to be closer to the polling unit, only for the election to be postponed.

Former BBNaija housemate, Leo Da-Silva also waded into the issue. He lambasted INEC for not being able to carry out their most important duty. He also lamented at the poor way corpers who had volunteered to participate in the electoral process have been treated.

Media girl, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbebi also had a lot to say. According to her 'they' do not care about us.
