Election shift: PRP candidate cautions against voter's apathy, drums support for Buhari

- Malam Slihu Sagir Takai, the governorship candidate of the PRP, has appealed to electorates to come out and massively vote in the next election

- Takai asked Nigerians not to be frustrated by the earlier postponement of the election by the Independence National Electoral Commission

- The governorship candidate also drummed support for President Muhammadu Buhari so that he can continue the works he started

Malam Slihu Sagir Takai, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Kano state has asked voters to come out massively during next presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, February 23.

The appeal was made through a statement by his spokesman, Auwalu Mu’azu, saying that the encouragement to voters is important as people are frustrated and angry at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s postponement of the election, Daily Trust reports.

He also added that for the electoral exercise not be affected by apathy, influential Nigerians need to rise up to the task of encouraging the eligible electorates.

He said: “In the light of the seeming disappointment of Nigerians at the polls shift, it has become necessary for all of us to work assiduously towards making sure that we encourage the electorates to come out in their numbers and take part in the coming rescheduled elections.”

Takai also used the opportunity to canvass for votes for President Muhammadu Buhari , saying the president needs to continue the works he has started.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari called on Nigerians not to lose faith in the country’s electoral system and urged the electorates to vote in the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a video address on Tuesday, February 19, the president commiserated with those who travelled hundreds of kilometres in order to vote before the election was postponed.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
