President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja after Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed today's Presidential and National Assembly election due to logistic issues.
The president left his home town in Daura, Katsina state and returned to the presidential villa in Abuja to await the briefing by the chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu.
President Buhari's spokesperson, Garba Shehu, announced this while speaking to journalists on TVC, Saturday morning.
The chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu announced the postponement of the elections around 2.45 am on Saturday, February 16, after he held an emergency meeting with security officials, election observers and other stakeholders.
Yakubu said proceeding with the election as scheduled is no longer feasible and as result of this, the election was postponed by a week.
