Sahara Reporters writes that not fewer than eight people have been killed and 15 others injured in an explosion carried out by a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber in an early morning attack in Maiduguri, Borno state on Saturday, February 16.
The report quotes residents as saying that the insurgents attacked Polo Jidari area in Jere local government of the Borno state capital at about 5am.
The insurgents opened fire on the community before a suicide bomber exploded his explosive vest and ended up killing 8 people and injuring others.

Sahara Reporters quoted two residents as saying that even members of the civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) that protected the community were victims in the attack.
The bodies of the victims were said to have been taken by the State Emergency Management Agency to the State Specialist Hospital for immediate attention.
The report also claimed that there were other unconfirmed stories of double attacks in Gajiram in Nganhzi and Bama LGAs of Borno on Friday, February but full details had yet to emerge at press time.
But The Cable reports it slightly differently. According to the online news platform, 11 persons were killed in the attack after two suicide bomber exploded their devices inside a mosque.

The report quoted Damian Chukwu, the Borno state commissioner of police as confirming the incident.
According to Chukwu, two suicide bombers accompanied by a gunman infiltrated the mosque located in Kushari village behind old CBN quarters Maiduguri around 5:30am.

These incident come just days after Legit.ng reported that the terrorists opened fire on the convoy of state governor Kashim Shettima.
That incident happened on Wednesday, February 13, as the governor's convoy was travelling from Maiduguri, the state capital, to Gamboru-Ngala for a political rally.
The governor later confirmed three people were killed in the attack while other reports say about a dozen people have been reported missing too.
