Barcelona make final transfer decision on player after El Clasico against Real Madrid

- Philippe Coutinho has been struggling to get to his best form since last summer's World Cup

- The Brazil international was substituted in Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in Copa del Rey

- The 26-year-old has been linked with Premier League clubs including Man United and Chelsea

Philippe Coutinho have taken Barcelona to the limit following his below par performance against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, reports in Spain claim.

The Brazilian was signed in the January window of 2018 from Liverpool for a staggering £142million as the Nou Camp outfit attempted to ease pressure on Lionel Messi since Neymar left for Paris Saint-Germain.

But the 26-year-old's form by his standards has been nothing to write home about since last summer's World Cup, scoring just four goals in 20 La Liga games this campaign.

The Brazil international was substituted in the 63rd minute against Los Blancos and was replaced by Messi as the semi final clash ended in a 1-1 draw.

And according to Spanish news media outlet Marca, Coutinho's performances this season has given the green light to Barcelona bosses that they should listen to offers for him in the summer.

The El Clasico was an opportunity for the ex-Inter Milan midfielder to prove his worth as Ousmane Dembele is injured and Messi not fit enough to play.

According to Catalan daily Sport, Coutinho's showing has been branded unjustifiable as the Brazilian will battling to save his career with the Spanish champions.

The creative midfielder has been linked with a couple of Premier League suitors including Manchester United and Chelsea who are reportedly interested in signing him.

But Barcelona would want to recoup the majority of the club's record fee splashed out on him when they want to sell him.

Barca have already completed the signing of Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong, which will increase competition for Coutinho if he remains at Nou Camp beyond next season.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported Philippe Coutinho is reportedly being considered for a summer switch to join Premier League side Chelsea should Eden Hazard leaves for Real Madrid in the summer.

The Brazil international has failed to replicate his form in Liverpool at the Camp Nou and he has been linked with a return to England if he does not improve.

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,

The pioneering phase of African Poetry

The pioneering phase We have called the first phase that of the pioneers. But since the phrase “pioneer poets” has often been used of writers of English expression like Osadebay, Casely-Hayford and Dei-Anag, we should point out that our “pioneer phase” also includes Negritude poets of French expression. The poetry of this phase is that of writers in “exile” keenly aware of being colonials, whose identity was under siege. It is a poetry of protest against exploitation and racial discrimination, of agitation for political independence, of nostalgic evocation of Africa’s past and visions of her future. However, although these were themes common to poets of both English and French expression, the obvious differences between the Francophone poets and the Anglophone writers of the 1930s and 1940s have been generally noted. Because of the intensity with which they felt their physical exile from Africa, coupled with their exposure to the experimental contemporary modes of writing in F
